Our last retreat focused on bright summer days, being outdoors in the fresh air, growing and blooming as we connected to nature. This time our retreat will focus on slowing down, letting go and self-care. It is still our hope to be outdoors enjoying the beautiful countryside and nature around us but mimicking and following the example of the season to ground down and restore through the winter months. This relaxing retreat will revolve around a twice daily gentle yoga practice (Hatha & Yin) while focusing on rest and relaxation. As its November we will be using yoga, mindfulness and meditation to let go and settle into our winter months.

While exploring and connection to nature will still be key to this retreat it will be weather dependent. So if the weather suits yoga classes and some of our time will be outdoors surrendering to the beautiful beaches, woods or gardens surrounding Cambo House. The rest of our time will be indoors focusing on self-care with log fires and big blankets while settling down into slow gentle yoga, meditation and mindfulness.


yoga styles

Hatha can be described as Ha – Sun, Tha – Moon, a practice designed to calm and balance body and mind through yoga pose (asana) and breathing (pranayama). Hatha is considered a Yang practice with strong poses and repetitive movement. Even the slow gentle classes we are offering!

Yin in Chinese philosophy is the passive female principle of the universe. Is a practice where most poses are seated or reclined. Its major role is to work on a target area (muscle group) working on tendons and fascia while relaxing the body into the pose.

Both styles will be suitable for all abilities.

Venue

Cambo House is an impressive Victorian mansion situated in 1200 acres of idyllic Fife countryside. The estate has been owned by the Erskines’ for over 300 yrs and the existing home was constructed in 1881 as a rebuild after a fire. This beautiful house sits amidst flower beds and lawns, which are surrounded by woodlands and walks. Setting a spectacular backdrop for any life experience. Well known for its Snowdrop Festival in Spring and as a prized wedding venue for the modern couple, it is so exciting that we have been given permission to use Cambo Estate for our Yoga Retreat.

What is included

Yoga, Meditation & Mindfulness

The opportunity to switch off from your everyday life.

Five gentle classes to stretch and relax your body and mind. When the weather allows we will be outdoors connecting to nature through Yoga practice focusing on the Elements. Air, Earth, Water, Fire, Ether. However if the weather is inclement we will have use of the elegant blue Ballroom for our yoga classes.

Food

Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be prepared fresh each day. All food will be sourced from the wonderful selection of local suppliers to provide delicious homemade vegetarian & vegan meals. Please let us know if you have any dietary requirements.

Accommodation

Retreat accommodation will be set in the East Wing and/or West Wing providing Shared living space, kitchen & bathroom facilities 1 x double room, 2 x twin rooms and  1 x triple room

What you will need

Over and above your own essentials we recommend bringing the following

  • Comfortable clothing for yoga
  • Slippers
  • Outdoor clothing for all weathers
  • Trainers or boots for walking
  • Sunscreen
  • A good Book

If you have a mat etc that you prefer to use feel free to bring it along otherwise all mats and props will be provided.
